Dreamers & Visionaries Needed!

“Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me,” Kermit the Frog sings poignantly, inviting us to dream with him. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. invites us even more powerfully to dream with him as he proclaims, “I have a dream!” Is there anything more powerful than a leader who dreams, who believes in those dreams, and then invites us to live and create those dreams together? The Spirit promises to grant dreams and visions to the youngest and the oldest amongst us, to women and men, to our sons and daughters. Together, we are the carriers of God’s vision. Individually, any one of us might the dream leader that our church, our community, and our world most needs. Whether we are Kermit or Dr. King, our dreams matter. Each person’s vision of faithfully living out God’s loving presence on this earth matters. Each hand that helps to make our dreams a reality matters. Each voice that proclaims God’s unconditional love is needed. Each foot that moves forward to share this love with others is needed. Every voice proclaiming God’s miraculous love is needed. Only then can we blend the many voices proclaiming God’s miraculous love without the barriers of language, creed or color getting in the way. Leaders who have blessed our world with God’s dreams have helped us this far. But there are more songs of love to sing, more words of justice to proclaim, and more actions of compassion to share. The Spirit invites every one of us to step into God’s dreams for us, God’s dreams for the world, and our own dreams to make God’s dreams come to life. Together, we can all be leaders who dream; we can all be visionaries who sing the songs of hope and who walk the paths of love that our world so desperately needs.
