Finding Joy in 2024: A Year of Laughter, Leadership, and Living Authentically

As I continue my journey into 2024, embracing my Year of Joy, I find myself reflecting on the powerful role joy plays not only in our personal lives but in our collective experiences as a nation. Kamala Harris’s campaign has been a shining example of how joy can be a transformative force in politics, and it resonates deeply with my own commitment to seeing the best in others and living with purpose.

One aspect of Harris’s campaign that particularly inspires me is how she expresses herself, especially through her laugh. She talks about how people comment on the way she laughs, but she proudly owns it, saying, “I have my mother’s laugh.” Growing up around women who “laughed from the belly,” she learned that joy isn’t just an emotion—it’s an expression of freedom and authenticity. This reminds me of my own efforts this year to live with intentionality and not be confined by others’ perceptions of how I should be.

Harris’s laughter isn’t just a personal quirk; it’s a statement. It’s about breaking free from the constraints of societal expectations and embracing who we truly are. As I move forward in my Year of Joy, I’m reminded of her words and the importance of showing others who we are, not letting anyone tell us who we should be.

This year, as I continue to seek out the best in others and live with passion, I take inspiration from leaders like Harris who show that joy is not just an individual pursuit but a collective force that can uplift and unite us. Whether it’s in our personal lives or on a national stage, joy has the power to transform, and I’m excited to see where this year of joy will take me and all of us.
